Science
Welcome to the wonderful world of science for Saint Michael Episcopal students.
During this time with Mrs. Melanie, we provide a stimulating classroom experience, full of ideas and materials to incorporate science learning into a child’s everyday life.
The classes promote a lifetime of learning through the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) concept.
Children will explore hands-on learning through simple science experiments and explorations in the natural world that will awaken your budding scientist’s curiosity.

Designed to work with children’s natural curiosity.
Topics/activities/materials are meant to be authentic, open-ended, and spark joy.
Children build skills in experimentation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving.
Topics are intended to be broad to allow for changing interests of classes. Activities and explorations are set up with those interests in mind.
Early Learning classes have a sensory-based curriculum where there is always a different sensory exploration set up to build their skills in cause and effect, memory, fine motor, language development, and emotional regulation.
Kindergarten classes are 45 minutes. This allows for more time to engage in deeper discussions and explorations.
Topics for the year: Senses, Body, Plants, Animals, Weather/Temperature, Forces, Matter, Light/Color, Machines, Geology/Earth Science, and Tinkering.
